Passionate. Driven. Results-Oriented. These are only a few words that can be used to describe Fred Allen Williams-Harrell, a Business Education and Health Science Instructor, who believes that his purpose is to serve as a bridge between the classroom and the business world by using relevant instructional practices to connect the dots for students. Thus, he seeks to address the never-ending question asked by students: When will I ever need this? By engaging students and community partners, he seeks to bring the real world to students through various projects, guest speaker sessions, and field trips. He truly believes that exposure is the key to providing students with a diversity of authentic, relevant learning experiences.
Fred Williams-Harrell is a teacher at Grand Prairie High Schools. He teaches Principles of Business, Finance, and Medical Billing & Coding. He also serves as ambassador for Capturing Kids Heart Teacher Mentor as well as the founder of Young Wise Men Student Group. Fred previous taught at the School of Biotechnology, Health, and Public Administration at Olympic Community of Schools in Charlotte, NC from 2015-2018. There, he taught Principles of Business, Finance, and Business Law. Fred has several noteworthy accomplishments within his years at the School of Biotechnology; from serving NAF Academy Coordinator, Internship Coordinator, Health Science Academy Coordinator, Senior Advisor, Behavior Specialist, Student Advisor for the “We Are World Class – Boys Book Club” to serving as the Head Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. Outside of the classroom, he held the position of Impact Leader for Profound Gentleman in 2016. In 2017, Fred traveled international to Uganda (Africa) where he specialized in teaching and observing teachers how to effectively use limited resources to help engage students, lesson plan, classroom management and more.
Fred graduated from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Childhood and Family Education in 2006. He later received a Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX in 2014. Fred is a member of Phi Beta Sigma, Inc. – the Alpha Beta Chapter on the campus of Jackson State University.
